Abstract

The idea of using an isolator at the base of a building makes it less likely that the structure will resonate and makes the structure last longer, which makes the building more resilient to earthquakes. This study compares the efficacy of fixed-base and base-isolated multi-story RC-framed buildings. This G+10 rigid joint plane RCC frame analysis covers two scenarios. The first scenario is a straightforward RCC frame with a fixed base, while the second scenario is a RCC frame with base isolation (LRB). In every case, the effectiveness of base isolation is compared to that of a simple frame and a tubular system. The ETABS software is used for this analysis, which is intended for the design of the base isolated system 1893:2002 (part 1) and the seismic design of isolated structures.
