Abstract

A suspension bridge is a type of bridge where the deck is held aloft by suspension cables that are positioned beneath vertical suspenders. The main structural elements of a suspension bridge system are stiffening girders/trusses, main suspension cables, main towers, and cable anchorages at each end of the bridge. Vertical suspenders support the weight of the deck and the traffic load, while the main cables are suspended between towers and eventually connect to the anchorage or the bridge itself. The cable erection method is used to construct the superstructures of suspension bridges, just like other cable-supported bridges, without the need for false work. As in this instance, the main goal of the research is to compare the behavior of three different cases a cable stayed bridge, a suspension bridge, and a cable stayed suspension hybrid bridge under comparable loading scenarios. Using the analytical application CSI bridge, the three cases are modeled and analyzed while taking seismic and vehicular loading into account.
